NWHW 2022 Goals
"National Women's Health Week is an observance led by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office on Women's Health. The goal is to empower women to make their health a priority. National Women's Health Week also serves as a time to help women understand what it means to be well.
What does it mean to be a well woman?
It's a state of mind. It's being as healthy as you can be. And, most importantly, it's about taking steps to improve your physical and mental health:

2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami
The Great East Japan Earthquake of magnitude 9.0 at 2.46 pm on Friday 11 March 2011 did considerable damage in the region, and the large tsunami it created caused very much more. The earthquake was centred 130 km offshore the city of Sendai in Miyagi prefecture on the eastern coast of Honshu Island (the main part of Japan), and was a rare and complex double quake giving a severe duration of about 3 minutes. An area of the seafloor extending 650 km north-south moved typically 10-20 metres horizontally. Japan moved a few metres east and the local coastline subsided half a metre. The tsunami inundated about 560 km2 and resulted in a human death toll of about 19,000 and much damage to coastal ports and towns, with over a million buildings destroyed or partly collapsed.
Eleven reactors at four nuclear power plants in the region were operating at the time and all shut down automatically when the earthquake hit. Subsequent inspection showed no significant damage to any from the earthquake. The operating units which shut down were Tokyo Electric Power Company's (Tepco) Fukushima Daiichi 1, 2, 3, and Fukushima Daini 1, 2, 3, 4, Tohoku's Onagawa 1, 2, 3, and Japco's Tokai, total 9377 MWe net. Fukushima Daiichi units 4, 5&6 were not operating at the time, but were affected. The main problem initially centred on Fukushima Daiichi units 1-3. Unit 4 became a problem on day five.

WHO declares COVID-19 outbreak a pandemic 3/11/2020
In 2020, Chinese New Year was January 25, 2020. Before WHO declared COVID-19 at pandemic on March 11, 2020, I knew that was was brewing in Wuhan, China in early January would be bad because of Chunyun. I had a bad feeling that this massive migration of Chinese workers returning to their homes for New Year's was going to spread whatever pathogen was infecting people in Wuhan. I really wanted @WHO to institute travel restrictions in mid-January, ahead of the Chunyun, but it didn't declare the pandemic till mid-March, 2 months later.
Chunyun: Chinese New Year Travel Rush
"The Chinese New Year Travel Rush, known as 'Chunyun' (春运 spring movement), usually begins 15 days ahead of Lunar New Year's Day and lasts for about 40 days (usually from mid-January to late February).
Chinese New Year Travel Rush Many railway stations get packed at CNY. China's biggest and longest national holiday is the Spring Festival or Chinese New Year (CNY), and it causes the biggest and longest annual period of transport stress anywhere in the world."

Published 6 months after my 10/2020 tweet, the research paper showed that Chunyun contributed to the spread of COVID-19. Had travel restrictions was put in place BEFORE Chunyun, the whole pandemic may have taken a different trajectory.
Prior to Wuhan lock-down in 2020, chunyun, the largest population mobility on this planet, had begun. We quantified impact of Wuhan lock-down on COVID-19 spread during chunyun across the nation.
The geographic distribution of cases revealed that chunyun facilitated the COVID-19 spread in the majority but not all cities, and the effectiveness of Wuhan lock-down was offset by chunyun. Impacts of Wuhan lock-down during chunyun on the COVID-19 spread demonstrated heterogenetic geographic patterns.
Conclusion
Our results strongly supported the travel restriction as one of the effective responses and highlighted the importance of developing area-specific rather than universal countermeasures.

As many as 11 million Americans have heart valve disease, but only 1 in 4 adults know much about it. We’re working with @ValveDiseaseDay to raise awareness. Some facts to know and share this #ValveDisease Day:
Did you know that most households in the United States have at least one pet? While there are more cats than dogs in the United States, more households have dogs than cats, but not by much. Pets are not limited to the canine and feline categories. There are quite a few who prefer the companionship of birds, reptiles, fish, or rats.

Sales of the iconic yellow rubber ducky we've come to know today soared in Britain in 2001. Why? A British Tabloid, The Sun, reported Queen Elizabeth II had a rubber duck in her bathroom that wore an inflatable crown. The rubber ducky became a Toy Hall of Fame inductee in 2013. Founded in 1998, the Hall of Fame has only inducted 52 other toys.
